After 10-year ban, uniformed IDF soldiers visit Temple Mount

For the first time in 10 years, Israel Defense Forces soldiers in uniform visited the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Sunday. The presence of soldiers on the Mount has been prohibited since the second Intifada in 2000.

Ten IDF paratroopers were permitted to enter the Mount area – the holiest Jewish site – accompanied by Temple Mount Police Commander Superintendent Avi Biton.

Palestinian media described the event as suspect, with one report describing it as "a suspicious visit of a group of Israeli soldiers, which sets a dangerous precedent."

In 2000, the Temple Mount was closed to Jews after riots broke out in the compound. Three years later the area was opened again to Jews, but with restrictions, including a prohibition against soldiers in uniform entering the area. In recent months, Temple Mount activists and members of Knesset have levied intense pressure against the ruling, prompting Jerusalem District Police to change the regulations and allow soldiers in uniform to enter the compound.

MKs Zeev Elkin (Likud), Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), Danny Danon (Likud) and Aryeh Eldad (National Union) joined the campaign, raising the issue in the Knesset Internal Affairs and Environment Committee.

After the soldiers' hour-long visit on the Mount – during which they surveyed the area around the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock, and were given a guided tour by Ami Meitav, head of the Lander Institute's School of Tourism – the soldiers left the area via the Mughrabi Gate.

Yehuda Glick, director of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, said on Wednesday, "We should be grateful that we are getting results from our work. We are seeing more and more Jews entering the Temple Mount area with the understanding that it – and not the Western Wall – is a holy Jewish site.

Together with the recent developments of women and ultra-Orthodox Jews entering the compound, we have arrived at the point that even soldiers in uniform can visit the place, despite determined opposition from police in the past. We should now be focused on making a visit to the Temple Mount a requirement for every solider, so that they can learn its history."

Israeli paratroopers' march through Muslim Quarter Jerusalem

Ninety Paratroopers Brigade recruits marched with the IDF unit's banners through the Muslim Quarter in Jerusalem's Old City Thursday evening.

The group of soldiers, which was lead by Rabbi Matti Dan, head of the Ateret Cohanim movement, waved Paratroopers Brigade banners on the roof of a building in the quarter and chanted "Am Yisrael chai (Nation of Israel lives)" and "We can trust no one but our father in heaven."

The soldiers stopped in the Muslim Quarter before heading to the Western Wall, where their swear-in ceremony was scheduled to take place later in the evening. Rabbi Dan told the soldiers, "You have reinvigorated us. There is no way that soldiers will go to the Kotel without us embracing them in the Old City."

The Ateret Cohanim Yeshiva, which was founded in the Old City in 1983, operates in a number of Jewish-owned buildings situated at the heart of the Muslim Quarter. Some 200 students currently attend the institution. Most of them enlist in the army after completing their studies.

Our Comment: The so called `Muslim [Arab] Quarter´ in the Old City of [East] Jerusalem, does not belong to the Muslims or Islam, allthough many Arabs live their in freedom and have their own shops. But is rightfully governed by the Israeli/Jewish authority, and also many Jewish people and Christians live there. I [Henoch] know, because I´ve been there in 2010. So what´s the fuzz?

Stel je voor dat wij onze Italiaanse, Marokkaanse, Turkse, Noord-Afrikaanse, Congolese en Oost-Europese migranten 60 jaar lang in tenten in kampen zouden hebben vast gehouden, zonder rechten, zonder recht op arbeid of op een eigen huis…? En niet alleen zij maar ook àl hun nakomelingen, kinderen, kleinkinderen, achterkleinkinderen, net zoals al 63 jaar lang de [Islamitisch/Arabische] ´Palestijnen´ overkomt in de Arabische landen.

Wat een schande! Wat een aanfluiting van de mensenrechten! Palestijnse vluchtelingen, gegijzeld door de wereld als een open etterende wonde, hèt ultieme wapen om de Joden in het M-O uit te roeien. Haat jegens Israël, niet enkel omdat het land bestaat maar omdat het de staat van de Joden is. Oude Jodenhaat in een nieuwe jas.

Doomsday Clock Moves One Minute Closer to Midnight

The doomsday clock - which shows how close the world has moved to catastrophic destruction - has inched a minute closer to midnight. It puts the measure of how capable mankind is of imploding on itself at five minutes to 12.

The clock, in reality an indicator, is set by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists (BAS). It shows how capable mankind is of destroying itself. It started in 1947, at the beginning of the cold war, just two years after America dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

In recent years, the minute hand has been moving away from midnight. It's moved closer this time because of fears of nuclear weapons, the BAS says: "Two years ago, it appeared that world leaders might address the truly global threats that we face. In many cases, that trend has not continued or been reversed."

The factors that set the clock now include other developments in science that could inflict devastating harm, and climate changing technologies.

Israel fears F-35 delivery will be delayed

TEL AVIV, Israel, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Israeli military planners say they are increasingly worried that problems in Lockheed Martin's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program will mean that delivery of 20 of the stealthy jets ordered in October 2010 for $2.75 billion will be delayed.

If the delivery timetable is pushed back to later than 2017, senior military officers say the Israeli air force could consider acquiring new Boeing F-15 Eagles or Lockheed F-16 Fighting Falcons to fill the gap.

At present, the first of the 20 F-35s -- enough for one squadron -- is scheduled to arrive in Israel in 2015 with delivery completion in 2016. Pilots are to undergo training with the U.S. Air Force starting in 2014.

Until a few weeks ago, Israeli officials were confident that the first JSF squadron would be delivered on time, despite problems that have delayed the project for at least three years.

'Helft van de Palestijnen zal nooit Israël erkennen'

Filistine Islamic wild donkeys of man, agitated by the quran to their ultimate goal: The destruction of the State of Israel, and the murder (erasement) of the people from the book, Jews and Christians.

Een Palestijns onderzoek toont opnieuw dat echte vrede nog ver weg is, en dat dit zo blijft zolang de Palestijnen hun kinderen niet opvoeden tot vrede.

Uit een vorige maand gehouden enquête blijkt, dat bijna de helft van alle Palestijnen nooit Israël's bestaansrecht als het nationale thuisland van het Joodse volk zal erkennen, zelfs als een alomvattend vredesakkoord wordt bereikt, dat voldoet aan alle Arabische eisen.

De enquête werd uitgevoerd door het Palestijnse Centrum voor Beleid en Opinie Onderzoek, en vroeg het volgende:
"Er is een voorstel dat na de oprichting van een onafhankelijke Palestijnse staat en de regeling van alle geschilpunten, met inbegrip van de vluchtelingen en Jeruzalem, er een wederzijdse erkenning komt van Israël als de staat van het Joodse volk en Palestina als de staat van het Palestijnse volk. Bent u het eens of oneens met dit voorstel? "

Hoewel iets meer dan 50 procent zei te zullen instemmen met een dergelijk resultaat, zei 46,8 procent dat ze onder die voorwaarden nooit Israël zullen erkennen.

De uitkomsten van de enquête tonen het resultaat van meer dan tien jaar schoolonderwijs en mediapropaganda door de Palestijnse Autoriteit, waarin Israël wordt afgeschilderd als usurpator en de Joden als vreemde indringers. Het is logisch dat degenen die nagenoeg volledig zijn geïndoctrineerd door dit onderwijs en de mediapropaganda, nooit Israël anders kunnen zien dan als vijand, zelfs als er een volledig vredesverdrag is.

Dit is dan ook de reden dat de originele 'Oslo-akkoorden' bedongen dat beide partijen hun bevolking moeten opvoeden tot vrede en coëxistentie. De Palestijnse Autoriteit heeft daarentegen miljoenen dollars aan buitenlandse hulp gebruikt om het tegenovergestelde te doen, wat keer op keer bekend is gemaakt door organisaties zoals Palestinian Media Watch.

Maar omdat een alomvattend vredesakkoord nog niet eens in zicht is, werd de deelnemers vervolgens gevraagd wat de Palestijnen in de tussentijd moeten doen. Een grote groep van 41,1 procent zei dat ze volledige terugkeer naar gewapend geweld tegen de Israëlische Joden steunen. Met andere woorden, het terrorisme.
