Satellite footage of alleged missile base in Latakia, Syria
While Israel has remained tight-lipped over an alleged strike in Syria, an Obama administration official confirmed to CNN on Thursday that Israeli warplanes had in fact attacked an airbase in Latakia on Wednesday. The target was “missiles and related equipment” the Israeli government assessed might be transferred to the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, the report said.
The Israeli government and military establishment have declined to comment on the reports, although one Israeli official told Reuters he thought Israel had carried out the strike, but wasn’t certain.
Earlier Thursday, on the heels of reports that the airbase had contained advanced, Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles, Al-Arabiya reported that Israel had attacked not one, but two targets in the civil war-torn country.
Al-Arabiya’s report said two targets had been hit in Syria on Wednesday night – not just the Latakia air defense base, but a target in Damascus as well. Both targets were said to have contained shipments of Russian SA-8 anti-aircraft missiles meant for Hezbollah, which were reportedly completely destroyed.
A map of the Latakia airbase posted online shows three batteries of the Russian-made surface-to-air anti-aircraft missile at the base, outside Snobar Jableh in the country’s coastal Latakia region.
Earlier Thursday, Al-Arabiya quoted opposition forces as saying the base held S-125 missiles.

Aangifte tegen verkoper Mein Kampf

Lou Reed’s Stand for Israel and against Anti-Semitism
Perhaps even more than other American-Jewish rock stars such as Billy Joel and Bob Dylan, Lou Reed was fiercely proud of being Jewish — and included lyrics on behalf of Israel and against anti-Semitism in some of his songs.
I mention Reed’s Jewishness because not a single obituary I have read of him in the mainstream press mentions it, when for Reed it was an important factor.
Reed, who died yesterday of liver failure at the age of 71, was born Lewis Allan Reed to a Jewish family in Brooklyn. He said that while “he had no god apart from rock ‘n’ roll” his Jewish roots and standing up for Israel meant a lot to him. He was a frequent visitor to the country, last performing in Tel Aviv in 2008, and his aunt and many cousins live in Haifa and other Israeli towns.
Reed even had an Israeli spider named after him to thank him for his support for the country.
His connection to Israel and his distaste for anti-Semitism can be heard in his lyrics from the song “Good Evening Mr. Waldheim” on his 1989 solo album New York.

In protest of the impending release of 26 Arab terrorists on Tuesday, thousands of demonstrators - including family members of terror victims - marched Monday night to the Ofer Prison north of Jerusalem from which the release will take place.
The march comes as part of a large demonstration against the release attended by Israelis who descended on Ofer Prison in Jerusalem in dozens of buses from all over the country.
Video from the march shows protesters bearing Israeli flags and the photographs of terror victims while chanting "don't release terrorists," "don't release murderers of Jews," and "don't release murderers of children."

Two mortar shells from Gaza hit western Negev
NOT IN YOUR NEWS!
Two mortar shells from the Gaza Strip landed in Israel Sunday afternoon, the Israeli military said. There were no injuries or damage.
The shells fell at 1:30 p.m. in an open area in the Eshkol region in the western Negev. Last Monday, soldiers discovered a roadside bomb positioned along the border with the Gaza Strip and safely disposed of the device. No injuries or damage were caused in the incident.
Also last week, the army killed a suspected terrorist during a shootout in the West Bank. Islamic Jihad, which often shoots rockets out of the Strip, claimed Mohammed Aazi was a member of its organization. Israel said he planned a Tel Aviv bus bombing last November that left over 20 people injured.

We Are All 'Palestinians' ???
Dutch: De Arabische "Palestijnse" leiders komen overal vandaan .......... behalve uit het Britse mandaat gebied Palestina. Waarom noemen zij zichzelf Palestijnen ?
English: I'm confused: Who of Israeli or Palestinian leaders were born in Palestine?

14 thousand weapons caught at Ashdod port
Over 14 thousand cold weapons and other forbidden for import items were caught in a container that arrived at Ashdod port. Attempting to import the container was a 27 year old Palestinian from Hebron.
Thousands of cold weapons caught at the port: Ashdod port workers and customs men were astounded last night (Wednesday) after uncovering over 14 thousand weapons prohibited for import.
The tax authority at the port marked the container as suspicions, and after putting it through the scanner – decided to open it. Once the container was open, a massive amount of dangerous weapons that were hidden between clothes that were in the container were discovered.
Among others, hidden in the container were 4000 flashlight-shaped electric shockers, around 1000 Iron batons, 3200 pepper sprays, 2000 slingshots, 4000 laser pointers that are forbidden for import in the Palestinian Authority and 3500 fake “Casio” watches.
Trying to import the container was a 27 year old Palestinian Hebron resident, who is known to the police for smuggling offences committed in the past. The worth of the smuggled goods is estimated at half a million shekels. The Tax Authority has begun looking into the incident.

Israel strikes Hezbollah-bound missile shipment
Israeli warplanes hit a convoy of advanced missiles heading out of Syria and into Lebanon where they were to be delivered to Hezbollah, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, in the Kuwait-based paper Al-Jarida (Arabic), the attack was carried out earlier this week in the vicinity of the Lebanese-Syrian border.
However, the report, which relied on an unnamed “official source” in Jerusalem, did not say whether the targets were in Lebanon or Syria at the time of the strike. The Times of Israel could not independently confirm the report. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to answer questions from an Israel Radio reporter Tuesday morning regarding alleged Israeli strikes in Syria.
On Tuesday Lebanese media reported that Israeli warplanes and pilot-less drones overflew villages in south Lebanon. Israel has warned that any delivery of advanced weapons to the Shi’ite militia was a “red line” that would precipitate military action.
Israel has reportedly struck several times at weapons stashes and convoys inside Syria since the beginning of the year, either from the air or the sea. Most recently, on July 5 an airstrike reportedly targeted Russian anti-ship Yakhont missiles, which Israel considered game-changers if they were to be transferred to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Minor earthquakes strike near Eilat
A minor earthquake hit the Eilat port area Wednesday afternoon, causing no damage or casualties.
Tremors were felt in the Egyptian border city of Taba, but weren’t felt as strongly in the neighboring Israeli city. The earthquake, measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, was preceded by another similar-sized quake in the Red Sea, according to Israel Radio. The quakes were the first to be felt in the south of Israel, following a series of five minor quakes in six days — the last of them on Tuesday — felt in the north.
Israel’s last major earthquake shook the region in 1927 — a 6.2-magnitude quake that killed 500 and injured another 700. An earthquake in 1837 left as many as 5,000 people dead. Major earthquakes strike Israel once every 80 years or so, meaning the country may be due for a serious natural disaster.

Jerusalem museum melds two millenia of Jewish and Christian texts
Jerusalem’s Bible Lands Museum on Wednesday inaugurated a new traveling exhibition of rare Biblical texts and artifacts spanning two millennia, from lands as disparate and distant as Germany and Iraq, and written in at least a half a dozen languages.
The exhibit, entitled “The Book of Books,” compiles over 200 texts with the ambitious aim of presenting the history of the Judeo-Christian document over the course of Western history through its textual heritage. Among the documents on display are fragments of the earliest Greek translation of the Bible — the Septuagint — early New Testament scriptures, vibrant illuminated manuscripts, rare fragments from the Cairo Geniza and pages from the Gutenberg Bible, the first set to print.

Gulf states warned over snubbing Israeli swimmers
Qatar and UAE censored Israel’s name and flag; international governing body says ‘these things will not happen anymore’.
The organizers of the Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday failed to show the Israeli flag in their computer graphics displaying the races, substituting a white flag in its place, and failed to display the country name “Israel” — instead using “IRS” — in several of the cup’s races.
Some races in which Israelis featured were also not broadcast by the Qatar authorities, according to some reports.
The Israeli flag was also removed from outside the venue. A tweet was posted Sunday complaining about the flag’s presence before it was taken down from outside the Aspire Zone, according to the Doha News.

Turkey Exposed Israeli Spy Ring in Iran
Erdogan idolised by Israel's Islamic enemies Hamas
Turkish-Israel relations were so hostile last year that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan deliberately exposed a network of Iranians who had been working with the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, the Washington Post reports.
Erdogan gave Iranian authorities the names of up to 10 Iranians who had been meeting with Mossad handlers. Sources told the paper that Turkey’s deliberate exposure of the agents’ identities was a “significant” blow to Israel’s intelligence in Iran.
Israel reportedly had run part of its Iranian network through Turkey, Iran's neighbor. Turkey's internal intelligence agency would have been well placed to pick up on the meetings between Iranians and Israeli agents within its borders.
Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan is considered by Israel to have friendly ties to Iran, according to the report. However, United States intelligence personnel continue to deal with Fidan.

Yahrzeit: Thousands at Rachel's Tomb for Anniversary of Matriarch's Death
Remember Rachel
Tens of thousands of Jews are flocking to Rachel's Tomb beginning Monday night and all day Tuesday is the 11th day of Cheshvan, the yahrzeit (anniversary of death) of the biblical Matriarch Rachel, whose tomb is located on the road from Bethlehem to Efrata, where she died, rather than in Hevron where the other three matriarchs are buried with their husbands.
Today, Rachel's Tomb is located within Bethlehem city limits, but is less than a kilometer south of the Jerusalem municipal border and is entered only from Jerusalem on a road protected by high concrete walls, so that visiting it is convenient and secure.

Mild earthquake hits north Israel
Israel's fault line
A mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter Scale hit north Israel Thursday night. So far there have been no reports of injury or damage. The Geophysical Institute of Israel said the quake's epicenter was in Lake Kinneret. It was felt at around 9:20 pm.
"We felt the sofas in the living room move and the windows shook," a resident of Tiberias said. "The entire house shook." Another Tiberias resident told Ynet: "All the neighbors stepped out of the building; they thought it was about to collapse. My legs were shaking; we couldn't stand straight. My wife was panicking and she began to cry; she thought a disaster was about to happen."
The earthquake was also felt in Nazareth Illit. "The entire house shook for 15 seconds, and within five seconds I realized it was an earthquake," Lauri Laibo told Ynet from his 8th floor apartment in the city. "It wasn't a severe jolt, but the bed moved."
On Saturday a 6.4-magnitude earthquake which originated west of the island of Crete was felt in Israel. The center of the quake was 22.5 miles below the seabed 43 miles west of Chania on Crete, the US Geological Survey said.

A MESSAGE TO PRO-ISRAEL ACTIVISTS: STOP BEING AFRAID
British student's message to pro-Israel activists, after his confrontation with notorious anti-Israel MP goes viral.
Softly-spoken and eloquent, Jonathan Hunter does not sound like a rabble-rouser. But mention his recent confrontation with notorious anti-Israel MP George Galloway, the passion in his voice is unmistakable.
Two says ago, the 2nd-year History student at Britain's prestigious Oxford University achieved internet fame, when a video of him confronting Galloway during an Oxford Union debate went viral on social media sites and news sites, including Arutz Sheva Sheva.
At one point, Galloway can be heard saying that he felt "threatened" and demanded to known what Hunter was hiding under his sweater - at which point the 19 year-old student pulls out an Israeli flag, to Galloway's obvious bemusement.
Before being escorted out by security, Hunter parodied Galloway's own remarks to Aslan-Levy that "I don't debate with Israelis," by declaring: "I do not have a question for you, because I do not debate with racists," before unfurling the Israeli flag and making his exit, to applause from members of the audience.

Palestinian terrorist shot dead trying to enter IDF base in West Bank with Tractor
A Palestinian terrorist was shot dead after trying to enter an IDF base in the West Bank by breaching the base's fence with a tractor, the army said on Thursday evening.
According to an initial report from the IDF, Younis Obaidi from Beit Hanina drove the tractor towards a base near Al-Ram, southeast of Ramallah, ramming the mechanical digger through a gate in the base's perimeter fence.
"A Palestinian ... posed an immediate life threat to soldiers nearby. They opened fire towards the suspect and reported a direct hit," an IDF spokeswoman said.
An IDF soldier was lightly injured by the tractor.
Obaidi's brother, Mir'i Radeideh, also attempted to carry out a terrorist attack with a tractor, in March 2009. Radeideh attempted to run over two policemen in a police car in Jerusalem in March 2009. He was also shot to death.
Obaidi arrived at the base and directed his vehicle towards the IDF soldier guarding its entrance, according to a Channel 2 report. The guard entered into the base to ask if the tractor had authorization to enter.
At this point, Obaidi took advantage of the guard's absence and drove through the entrance barrier of the base and started driving quickly inside the base. The guard began to chase the tractor and yelled for him to stop but Obaidi continued, recklessly hitting vehicles parked inside the base.
An officer joined the first soldier and the two fired at the tractor driver, seriously injuring him. Obaidi passed away from his wounds shortly thereafter.

Israeli Leftist Shocked by Anti-Semitic Hostility in America
A former Israeli soldier and member of the furthest reaches of Israel's left-wing establishment writes in a telling piece for the Times of Israel about how the overwhelming hostility he encountered during a speaking tour in America completely altered his outlook on the conflict.
Tasked with speaking on campuses and at churches in the Pacific Northwest, Hen Mazzig thought that his liberal, pro-peace credentials would provide him with an open door to reasonably present and discuss what is going on in the region.
It is a mistake many Israelis have made, and like them, Mazzig quickly discovered that to most of Israel's antagonists, it mattered not that he opposed the so-called "occupation" and truly cared for the well-being of the Palestinians.
As Mazzig found out, what animates this movement is not legitimate criticism of Israel and Zionism, as its members claim, but rather anti-Semitism.
"When I served as a soldier in the West Bank, I got used to having ugly things said to me, but nothing prepared me for the misinformation, demonization of Israel, and the gut-wrenching, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic hostility expressed by many students, professors, church members," he wrote.
Mazzig continued: "I never expected to encounter such hatred and lies. I never believed that such anti-Semitism still existed, especially in the U.S. I never knew that the battlefield was not just Gaza, the West Bank, and hostile Middle Eastern countries wanting to destroy Israel and kill our citizens and soldiers. It is also here in America, where a battle must be waged against prejudice and lies."
But what clearly concerned the young emissary even more was the lack of a strong response from the American Jewish community. "Most mainstream American Jews are completely oblivious to this ugly movement and the threat it poses," Mazzig said, noting that this has been a dangerous pattern for Jewish communities throughout history.

Tel Aviv-Eilat Train Project Approved Despite Environmental Concerns
Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz was the only cabinet member to vote against the new Tel Aviv-Eilat rail line project during a cabinet meeting held on Sunday.
The ministerial committee approved the controversial rail line, which is scheduled to be the largest and most expensive transportation project in the Israeli state’s history and has raised serious concerns among leading environmentalists.
Environmentalists also believe the new train line poses a risk to Eilat’s delicate coral reefs due to increased traffic at the Eilat port, which will house a bustling shipping center after the project’s completion.
The Transportation Ministry insists the environmental concerns, as well as fears the huge budget will cause other transportation projects to be neglected, is unfounded.
“It won’t damage the coral reefs and won’t come at the expense of other public transit projects for which budgets have been allocated as planned,” the Transportation Ministry wrote in a statement. “It is of strategic importance for the State of Israel and for strengthening the outlying areas [of Israel].”
The project, which will not be open for travel until 2023, will ultimately allow hundreds of thousands of crates to more easily reach Israel’s population center via the Eiliat port as well as reduce travel time for tourists and commuters from Israel’s southernmost city to Tel Aviv to two hours.

The Temple Mount is God's Holy hill, and it is Judaism's most holy place (but also for us, because Yeshua was often in the holy Temple there). Islam conquered and occupied the holy hill, and has nothing to do there. That the Islamic/Muslim authorities prohibits (forbids) Jews & Christians to freely pray to G_d there, is an abomination. Both mosques deserve to be flattened and destroyed (or be replaced/moved to Mekka or Medina). Moshe Dayan made a huge mistake in 1967, and the IDF should have cleared the area of the Temple Mount of any Muslim presence! Then we wouldn't have any problems there today! But know for sure, this mistake will be corrected in the near future!

IDF uncovers Palestinian terrorist tunnel leading from Gaza to kibbutz in Israel
The IDF recently uncovered a Palestinian terrorist tunnel leading from the Gaza Strip to Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha, they announced on Sunday. The tunnel was dug in order to either kidnap civilians and soldiers, or to infiltrate the community and carry out an atrocity in it, the army believes.
The tunnel was over 1.7 kilometers in length and represents a grave attempt by Palestinian terrorists to perpetrate an attack, army sources added. The entrance of the tunnel on the Israeli side was reportedly dug near a kindergarten.
There was no claim of responsibility in Gaza but a spokesman for Hamas's armed wing wrote on Twitter that "the determination deep in the hearts and minds of resistance fighters is more important than tunnels dug in the mud".
The military said the tunnel, dug in sandy soil, had been reinforced with concrete supports, and Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon announced that he was immediately halting the transfer of building material to the Gaza Strip.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised the IDF for unearthing the tunnel, his spokesman said.
The radio station cited Haim Yalin, head of the Eskol Regional Council, as commending the army's discovery, saying it prevented disaster. MK Omer Bar-Lev (Labor) on Sunday called on the IDF to provide maximum security to residents of communities near the border with the Gaza Strip in light of the discovery.
"This morning we received a reminder that terrorism exists and that it could erupt at any moment," Bar-Lev said in response to an announcement earlier in the day of the IDF's discovery of a Palestinian terrorist tunnel.

IDF uncovers a tunnel running from Gaza into Israel

Israeli Christians Declare Affinity for Jewish State
“For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land; and the stranger shall join himself with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.” (Isaiah 14:1)
At a recent conference in Jerusalem, leading Israeli Christians gathered to set themselves apart from their Muslim counterparts and declare their affinity for the Jewish state in which they reside. At the conference, entitled “Israeli Christians: Breaking Free? The advent of an independent Christian voice in Israel,” representatives of the community reiterated one by one, “We are not Arabs, we are Christians who speak Arabic.”
Father Gabriel Naddaf of Nazareth, spiritual leader of the Israeli Christian Recruitment Forum, spoke first. ”I am here to open the public’s eyes,” he said. “If we want to refrain from lying to our own souls and to the general public, we must say clearly and unwaveringly: enough!
“The Christian public wants to integrate into Israeli society, against the wishes of its old leadership. There are those who keep pushing us to the margins, keeping us the victims [of a] nationalism that is not our own, and of a conflict that has nothing to do with us,” Israel Hayom reported.
Naddaf also quoted the founder of the Israeli Christian Recruitment Forum, Maj. Ihab Shlayan, as saying: “The Christians will not be made into hostages, or allow themselves to be controlled by those who wish to impose their nationality, religion and way of life upon us. We will not agree to hide behind the groups that control the streets. We want to live in Israel — brothers in arms and brothers in peace. We want to stand guard and serve as the first line of defense in this Holy Land, the Land of Israel.”
The Christian community in Israel is the only growing Christian community in the Middle East. It sees its roots in the Jewish people, and blames the Arab invasions of the 7th century for destroying its unique culture. “It is unthinkable that our children will be raised on the history of the Nakba and on the hatred of Jews, and not be taught their history,” Naddaf said.

Hamas Calls For United Arab Front Against ‘Judaization’ Of Jerusalem
One of Israel's greatest arch enemies, Islamic Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal (who deserves the same fate as sheik ahmed yassin, unless he repents to Yeshua) called for an “urgent national meeting” with the Palestinian Authority and Fatah to agree on a unified Palestinian strategy to confront Israeli “schemes” in Jerusalem” on Wednesday, the Jerusalem Post reported. Mashaal was speaking at a conference in Ankara on the issue of Jerusalem.
Mashaal said in his speech that no Palestinian or Arab or Muslim leader is authorized or has a mandate to sign an agreement that “harms” Jerusalem and the [un]holy sites. “Protecting Jerusalem and the Aksa Mosque against Judaization, demolition and division should be a shared national goal,” he said. Mashaal called for a decisive Palestinian, Arab and Islamic stance toward Jerusalem that rejects any concessions in the city.
“We need to affirm to ourselves, the future generations and the world that Jerusalem is the essence of the cause and conflict and a political, religious, national and historic symbol,” he added. “There should be no differing over this.”
The Hamas leader said that building an Arab, Islamic and Palestinian military capability is the only way to restore Jerusalem and the holy sites. The first step toward building such a military force should be to launch resistance attacks against Israel in order to drain its power, Mashaal said.

Palestijns leiderschap (P.A.) weigert opnieuw Israël als Joodse staat te erkennen

27 april 2009.

Denmark Marks 70th Anniversary of Rescue of Jews
A ceremony has been held in Denmark to mark the 70th anniversary of the evacuation of 7,300 Jews during World War II to prevent their deportation to a Nazi concentration camp.
At Copenhagen's synagogue Sunday, Jewish community leader Finn Schwarz told several hundred people it was "almost a miracle" that the October 1943 operation in Nazi-occupied Denmark dodged German patrol boats to deliver the Jews across a waterway to neutral Sweden.
In that year, Denmark's Jews were ordered deported, but a German official tipped off Danish lawmakers who told Jewish leaders.
Some 481 elderly and sick Danish Jews who couldn't get out were deported to a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia, and 53 died there.
On Tuesday, a light show on a bridge between Denmark and Sweden will commemorate the escape.

Extinct Judean date palm tree grows anew from ancient jar of seeds unearthed by archaeologists
For thousands of years, Judean date palm trees were one of the most recognizable and welcome sights for people living in the Middle East -- widely cultivated throughout the region for their sweet fruit, and for the cool shade they offered from the blazing desert sun.
From its founding some 3,000 years ago, to the dawn of the Common Era, the trees became a staple crop in the Kingdom of Judea, even garnering several shout-outs in the Old Testament. Judean palm trees would come to serve as one of the kingdom's chief symbols of good fortune; King David named his daughter, Tamar, after the plant's name in Hebrew.
By the time the Roman Empire sought to usurp control of the kingdom in 70 AD, broad forests of these trees flourished as a staple crop to the Judean economy -- a fact that made them a prime resource for the invading army to destroy. Sadly, around the year 500 AD, the once plentiful palm had been completely wiped out, driven to extinction for the sake of conquest.
In the centuries that followed, first-hand knowledge of the tree slipped from memory to legend. Up until recently, that is.
During excavations at the site of Herod the Great's palace in Israel in the early 1960's, archeologists unearthed a small stockpile of seeds stowed in a clay jar dating back 2,000 years. For the next four decades, the ancient seeds were kept in a drawer at Tel Aviv's Bar-Ilan University. But then, in 2005, botanical researcher Elaine Solowey decided to plant one and see what, if anything, would sprout.
"I assumed the food in the seed would be no good after all that time. How could it be?" said Solowey. She was soon proven wrong.
Amazingly, the multi-millennial seed did indeed sprout -- producing a sapling no one had seen in centuries, becoming the oldest known tree seed to germinate.
Today, the living archeological treasure continues to grow and thrive; In 2011, it even produced its first flower -- a heartening sign that the ancient survivor was eager to reproduce. It has been proposed that the tree be cross-bred with closely related palm types, but it would likely take years for it to begin producing any of its famed fruits. Meanwhile, Solowey is working to revive other age-old trees from their long dormancy.

Israelitische Gemeente in Den Haag. Dit gebeurt i.s.m. Pillar of Fire.
