High Priest is Chosen by Sanhedrin, Temple Service Could Be One Week Away
A significant step was recently taken towards reinstating the Temple service when the nascent Sanhedrin selected Rabbi Baruch Kahane as the next Kohen Gadol (high priest).
The selection was made as a precaution for Yom Kippur. If the political conditions should change, allowing the Jews access to the Temple Mount, they will be required by Torah law to bring the sacrifices. Rabbi Kahane is confident that if that should happen, Temple service could begin in less than one week.
Rabbi Kahane is a prominent scholar, knowledgeable in the complicated laws pertaining to the subject of the Temple Service. He is part of the Halacha Berurah Institute, established by Rabbi Avraham Isaac HaCohen Kook, the first Chief Rabbi of Israel, which deals with the elucidation of Jewish law from its Talmudic sources (Oral Law) and commentaries. He has played a prominent role in all the reenactments of the Temple services performed to date.
This year has already seen much Temple-oriented activity: the Temple Institute has created a registry of kohanim; established a school for educating men of the priestly class in the details of the Temple service; and performed reenactments on all the holidays, including the especially significant Passover sacrifice.

School for Temple Priests Opens in Jerusalem
The Temple Institute has announced the opening of a school to train descendants of the Tribe of Levi for their eventual return to service in the Third Temple.
“We are extremely excited to announce this new step towards the restoration of the Holy Temple service. We call first and foremost upon Kohanim [Levitical priests] worldwide to support this special project, which signifies a return to their birth right,” read a statement from Temple Institute director Rabbi Chaim Richman.
In a separate comment, Rabbi Richman noted that “preparation for the Temple is no longer a dream, it’s a reality, in which everyone can play a part.”
The Temple Institute has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help fund the priestly training, which will include courses on how to apply modern technology to Temple service.
The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is currently occupied by the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque, which Muslims now claim as their third holiest site.
Many Jews and Christians believe a Third Temple will one day take the place of the Muslim holy sites in accordance with several biblical prophecies.

Tisha B'Av 2016
Tonight and tomorrow, we remember and pray with Tisha B'Av (9th of Av). When misery fell to the Jewish people. The error of the ten spies, the destruction of the temple, the expulsion from England in 1290, expulsion from Spain in 1492, starting World War in 1914 and the Final Solution in 1942. There is so much to say ... but now fits silence.

Israël Will Defemd Itself Against All Enemy Nations
In that [last] day will I (the Lord God) make the governors of Judah [of Israël] like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, [even] in Jerusalem. - zecheriah 12:6
