Jonathan Pollard to be released Nov 20th

It has been officially reported that Jonathon Pollard will be released on parole November 20th this year. Channel 2 news spoke with Pollard's ex-wife, Anne who was clearly excited about his release.

“I would like to thank the many thousands of well-wishers in the United States, in Israel, and throughout the world,” Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard stated this evening (Tuesday) through his attorneys following the announcement on his upcoming release on November 20th after 30 years of incarceration in the US.

In the announcement published on behalf of Pollard he thanked the many people “who provided grass roots support by attending rallies, sending letters, making phone calls to elected officials, and saying prayers for my welfare,” adding that he was “deeply appreciative of every gesture, large or small.”

Pollard’s attorneys added that they expect to see him outside the prison walls in less than four months. With regards to his family, the attorneys stated on behalf of Pollard that he was “looking forward to being reunited with his beloved wife Esther.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed the report of Pollard’s release this evening.

Meanwhile, Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked announced earlier this evening that a decision was reached by the US Parole Commission to release the incarcerated Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard on Friday the 20th of November 2015. Pollard was supposed to be released on the 21st of November following a 30-year incarceration, but the date was moved back a day in order that his release take place before the Sabbath.

Pollard’s legal team in the US stated that the Israeli agent would be released under restricting conditions and would most probably be forced to remain in the US during the coming five years. However, US President Barack Obama has the ability to allow Pollard to come to Israel at a sooner date.

“I don't know the conditions. I just heard about it,” the Israeli agent’s former wife Anne Pollard told Channel 2 News. “I don't know what the release conditions will be. I just pray that they will put him on the plane. I hope that this announcement is correct. I haven't heard it from official sources,” she stated.
