Jewish woman brutally murdered in Iran for expanding mosque property

A 57-year-old Jewish woman was brutally stabbed to death and her body mutilated on Monday (last week 26th november) by Muslim attackers in the Iranian city of Isfahan, in what her family says was a religiously motivated crime related to a property dispute, Menashe Amir, an expert on Iranian Jewry who spoke with the victim’s family, has told The Times of Israel.

Tuba N., whose family requested not to reveal her last name, was murdered by her Muslim neighbors, who had harassed her family for years in an attempt to drive them from their home and confiscate the property for the adjoining mosque.

“The religious radicals even expropriated part of the house and attached it to the mosque’s courtyard,” Amir said. “The Jewish family appealed to the courts with the help of a local attorney” to seek redress for the conflict, “despite the threats to their lives.”

On Monday, while her husband was in Tehran attending to business matters, “thugs broke into her home, tied up her two sisters who were living with her, and repeatedly stabbed her to death.” Afterward, her attackers allegedly butchered her body and cut off her hands, a sister who witnessed the event told her relatives in the US, who conveyed the information to Amir.

Iranian authorities were said to have not returned the woman’s dismembered body to her family and have tried to cover up the case. According to Amir, members of the dwindling community fear future bloodshed against Jews in the wake of Tuba’s murder.

Isfahan, Iran’s third-largest city, with a population of over 1.5 million, was home to 1,200 of Iran’s 25,000 Jews as of 2009. Since then, Jewish numbers in the Islamic Republic have declined. A government census published earlier this year indicated there were a mere 8,756 Jews left in Iran, and Amir told The Times of Israel that Isfahan was now home to fewer than 100 families.

Fatah leader Abbas Zaki speaks on Palestinian Authority television about "the great goal," referring to the goal of destroying Israel.

He explains that it is impossible to achieve the "goal in one stroke," but that it would be "great" if Israel were "remove[d] from existence." He goes on to explain that this is not "a [stated] policy" and "you can't say it to the world."

This is a clear of example of the duplicity of PA leaders, who adhere to one position when speaking to foreign audiences, claiming to be seeking peace, but uphold a different position when speaking in Arabic, denying Israel's right to exist and educating the Palestinian people for continued conflict. This video indicates that Fatah may not intend to seriously work towards peace.

Tiferet Israel Synagogue to be rebuilt

The Jerusalem Municipality awarded initial approval to a plan to rebuild the Tiferet Israel synagogue in the Old City’s Jewish Quarter, a magnificent domed synagogue from the 19th century which was destroyed in the 1948 War of Independence.

The project will recreate the three-story-tall synagogue as well as the iconic dome on the top, with only minor changes to the original, such as the introduction of an elevator to make the building more accessible.

On Tuesday, the municipality’s Local Planning and Building Committee approved the plan for the next step of the process, where it must receive the approval of the Interior Ministry.

An anonymous donor who has been active in previous rebuilding projects in the Old City donated nearly NIS 50 million needed for reconstruction, said Shlomi Attias, the Old City project manager for The Company for the Reconstruction and Development of the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem Ltd. (JQDC).

The JQDC is a public company under the auspices of the Construction and Housing Ministry. The synagogue is located just a few hundred meters from the Western Wall Plaza, in the same plaza as the Hurva.

Ashkenazi Hassidim bought the land for Tiferet Israel Synagogue in 1843, though the building wasn’t inaugurated until 1872. The synagogue is also known as the Nissan Bek synagogue, after its founder.

The Al Aqsa Heritage Foundation is freaking out, claiming that the building is being built on the ruins of an Islamic chapel. (Isn't everything?) It also says that this synagogue, along with the Hurva and Ohel Yitzchak, are on areas belonging to the Islamic Waqf. (Isn't everything?)

It is worth mentioning that besides the fact that Muslims object to synagogues in Jerusalem altogether, they are especially peeved that this one - together with Hurva - are so tall, giving the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa mosque competition in the Old City skyline (the Jewish Quarter is situated on a hill.)

Internationale kritiek op bouw van Joodse woningen

De internationale gemeenschap was zondag in rep en roer, nadat Israël op het eenzijdige verzoek van de Palestijnse Autoriteit aan de VN om erkenning, reageerde door de bouw van meer Joodse woningen in Judea en Samaria goed te keuren.

Groot Brittannië en Frankrijk zouden de aanval op Israël leiden door het terugroepen van hun respectievelijke ambassadeurs te overwegen.

In de VS veroordeelde de minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Hillary Clinton de Israëlische reactie, hoewel Washington ook hard had gestreden om de Palestijnen te weerhouden van hun nutteloze stunt in de Algemene Vergadering van de de VN.

Rahm Emanuel, die de Amerikaans en de Israëlische nationaliteit heeft, president Obama's stafchef was en nu burgemeester van Chicago, hekelde de Israëlische premier Benjamin Netanyahu wegens zijn 'ondoorgrondelijk gedrag'.

VN-chef Ban Ki-moon was al even dramatisch, toen hij de geplande 3000 Joodse appartementen een 'bijna fatale klap' voor de vooruitzichten op vrede in de regio noemde.

De 3000 nieuwe appartementen zullen binnen de grenzen van reeds lang gevestigde Joodse gemeenschappen worden gebouwd, en vormen daarmee geen schending van enige met de Palestijnen gesloten overeenkomst.

Daarentegen was de motie die de Palestijnse Autoriteit vorige week indiende bij de VN wel een schending van een belangrijk deel van die zelfde overeenkomsten, namelijk dat een eind aan het conflict, door de oprichting van een Palestijns Arabische Staat, alleen tot stand moet komen door bilaterale onderhandelingen.

Er klonken ook stemmen voor Israël, zoals de Amerikaanse senator John McCain, die voor Israëls Channel 10 News zei dat de erkenning van Palestina door de VN 'niet onbeantwoord kan blijven'.
Hij stelde voor, dat de VS ook strafmaatregelen moet nemen door financiële hulp aan de Palestijnse Autoriteit in te houden.

Het is belangrijk te weten, dat al tientallen jaren Joodse woningen worden gebouwd in gevestigde nederzettingen, en is toegestaan onder de voorwaarden van de lopende overeenkomsten. De Palestijnse stap bij de VN is echter een volledige breuk met bilaterale onderhandelingen, en maakt pogingen om een echte en blijvende vrede te bereiken veel ingewikkelder.

En toch krijgt Israël van de internationale gemeenschap het verwijt dat het een 'ondoorgrondelijke' 'bijna fatale klap' heeft gegeven aan het vredesproces.

Israel Approves New Jewish Construction 3000 housing-units After UN Vote

Less than 24 hours after the United Nations voted to recognize the Palestinian Authority as a non-member observer state, Israel has responded by approving construction of new Jewish homes.

On Friday afternoon, the forum of nine senior ministers approved the construction of 3,000 housing units in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

In addition, the nine ministers decided to promote the building of thousands of housing units in Jerusalem and in the so-called ‘settlement blocs’, including the area known as E1 which connects Jerusalem and Maale Adumim, a long-standing request.

A senior diplomatic source said, according to a Channel 2 News report, that "continued construction is done according to Israel's strategic interests." The source added that additional measures to respond to the PA’s unilateral move are currently being considered.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Eli Yishai addressed the political attacks on Israel in regards to Israel's announcement of plans for construction in Jerusalem and the surrounding area, saying, "Israeli governments for generations have built in Jerusalem and everywhere of important in regards to the country's security. We do no have the right to build in Jerusalem and its surrounding areas - but rather the obligation. Putting a question mark on out right to this, is like putting a question mark on our right to the land. "
