Liberman: We must legislate to save Ulpana neighborhood from court-ordered demolition

The way the government handles the issues of universal conscription and the contested neighborhood of Givat Ulpana will be the real tests of the new coalition, Yisrael Beytenu chairman Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said in a press conference Wednesday morning.

A day after the dramatic announcement of the deal that brought Kadima into the coalition, Liberman seemed willing to give the new union a chance, but warned against using the broad bloc to delay making tough decisions.

Liberman also spoke about the government’s response to the Supreme Court decision to evict settlers from Givat Ulpana, in the West Bank settlement of Beit El, saying the government would have to create legislation to bypass the court’s ruling and enable the residents to stay. The court order requires the demolition of five buildings in the neighborhood, built on private Palestinian land, by July 1.

“The residents of the Givat Ulpana neighborhood are law-abiding citizens. Givat Ulpana is not an illegal outpost. It’s not their fault the government made a mistake and sent them to live there. Therefore the government has to find a solution,” said Liberman.

Addressing the Palestinian issue, Liberman said that the ball was in the Palestinian court and that Israel has done all it can to return to the negotiating table.

Six army battalions IDF to Egypt, Syria borders

Six army battalions called up under emergency orders to meet growing threat on Egypt, Syria borders.

Knesset approves IDF request to call up a further 16 battalions if needed.

Reserve soldiers conduct a training exercise.

May 2, 2012 - An IDF spokesperson said intelligence assessments called for the deployment of more soldiers. An army statement highlighted last August’s infiltration from the Sinai north of Eilat in which eight Israelis were killed, and said the subsequent division of that area into two distinct military zones necessitated additional manpower.

According to 2008′s Reserve Duty Law, combat soldiers can be called for active reserve duty once every three years, and for short training sessions during the other two. Rising tensions between Israel and Egypt and the ongoing unrest in Syria caused the army to ask the Knesset for special permission to call up more soldiers, more often.

The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee approved the request recently, enabling the IDF to summon up to 22 battalions for active duty for the second time in three years. Already, the army has called up six of them.

“This signifies that the IDF regards the Egyptian and Syrian borders as the potential source of a greater threat than in the past,” the former deputy chief of staff, Dan Harel, said on Wednesday night.

“The army needs a better ‘answer’ than in the past to the threat,” he said, citing Egypt’s deteriorating control over the Sinai, marked by an upsurge in Bedouin smuggling of weapons and other goods. He also spoke of the growing threat of terrorism from Sinai, as exemplified by last August’s infiltration.

The Syrian situation was also highly combustible, Harel said, "and it could explode at any moment… and pose a direct challenge to us."

Christians, Jews to unite against Islam?

Will Jews, Christians finally join forces in battle against genocidal Islamic hatred?

Evangelical Christians support Israel

The Coliseum, where thousands upon thousands of "Judaeis" have been massacred by the Roman emperors, became for one night an arena for alliance between Christians and Jews against “odium fidei,” or religious hatred.

Last Wednesday in Rome, Jewish leaders for the first time rallied alongside Christians in a candlelit vigil to denounce the attacks in the Middle East and Africa. It was “interfaith” or “ecumenical” dialogue at its best. Forget the theological questions, which remain unsolvable. There is an urgent mutual solidarity about the single most defining issue of our time: religious freedom.

It is about the right to life of Jews and Christians in an Islamicized Middle East. Speaking at the Coliseum, Rome’s Chief Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni slammed Western “indifference” surrounding the massacre of minorities in the Middle East.

Our Comment:

It is far more then this. On this Dutch/English Blog you can experience and read about the Love we as TRUE Christians (Messianics by our faith in the Jewish MaShiach Yeshua=Jesus) have for Israel (Gods Land), the Jewish people (Gods people) and for Jerusalem (Gods City). But formost for our common heavenly Father, the God of Israel.

Islam has no bond at all with Jews and Christians, because Islam worship another (idol) god, namely Il-Allah. The quran is inspired by other (dark) spiritual forces. the Quran therefor claims rightly that Jews and Christians are eachother friends (although name-christianity did horrible things to the Jews for centuries, which we reject completely), and that muslims must abstain from friendship and integration with us, because the (false) ´prophet´ muhammed (and il-allah) write/says in the quran that Jews and Christians are not only eachother friends, but also are unjust and il-allah´s enemies.

In Islamic Jihad, first muslims are obliged to take revenge (kill) the saturday people (the Jews, shabbat-keepers) and after that (kill) the sunday-people (the Christians, who come together mainly on sunday). Therefor Jews and Christians has the same evil religion and enemy against them, namely ISLAM. And we can not do much about it, as long muslims believe, what muhammed and the quran says/writes what they MUST do!

The only solution is to give muslims/islamists Bibles (Tenach & New Testament) so their thinking, acting and behaviour will change, and they themselves will be changed from a person filled with hate into a person filled with Love!

Shalom from Christian-Zionists in The Netherlands.

Echoes of ‘67: Israel Unites

Israelis today face the greatest threat to their existence since May ’67 – nuclear weapons in the hands of apocalyptic mullahs publicly pledged to Israel’s annihilation.

The world is again telling Israelis to do nothing as it looks for a way out. But if such a way is not found – as in ’67 – Israelis know that they will once again have to defend themselves, by themselves. Such a fateful decision demands a national consensus.

By creating the largest coalition in nearly three decades, Netanyahu is establishing the political premise for a preemptive strike, should it come to that. The new government commands an astonishing 94 Knesset seats out of 120.

Netanyahu, the first Likud prime minister to recognize Palestinian statehood (what we as Christian-Zionists oppose), did not need Kadima for him to enter peace talks. For two years he’s been waiting for Mahmoud Abbas to show up at the table. Abbas hasn’t. And won’t. Nothing will change on that front.

Netanyahu forfeited September elections that would have given him four more years in power. He chose instead to form a national coalition that guarantees 18 months of stability — 18 months during which, if the world does not act (whether by diplomacy or otherwise) to stop Iran, Israel will.

And it will not be the work of one man, one party or one ideological faction. As in 1967, it will be the work of a nation.

Vidal Sassoon's Zionist legacy

Israelis on Thursday joined millions around the world in mourning the passing of celebrity hairstylist Vidal Sassoon, but likely for a different reason than most of his admirers.

Most people remember Sassoon for his "wash-and-wear" haircutting technique that revolutionized women's hair fashion, as well as for his famous line of haircare products. Fewer know that before he became a household name, Vidal Sassoon was battling Nazi anti-Semitism and defending the newly reborn Jewish state against invading Arab armies.

Sassoon was born to a Jewish family in London, but was sent to a local Jewish orphanage at age 3 when his father left. Sassoon left the orphanage at age 14 and became an apprentice hairdresser. It was around this time that Sassoon said his mother declared he was to become a career hairdresser.
But he had other business to attend to first.

With World War II winding down, Sassoon joined a Jewish veterans' group that combatted anti-Semitic fascist activity in London. A few years later, at the age of 20, Sassoon joined the Hagannah (the precursor to the Israel Defense Forces) and headed off to help defend the newborn Jewish state.

"That was the best year of my life," Sassoon later said of his time in Israel. "When you think of 2,000 years of being put down and suddenly you are a nation rising, it was a wonderful feeling. There were only 600,000 people defending the country against five armies, so everyone had something to do."

Upon his return to London, Sassoon resumed a hairstyling career that would eventually see him reach the pinnacle of the fashion world. But he never forgot what he was ultimately fighting for, nor the threats continuing to face his people.

In 1982, Sassoon returned to Israel to establish the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism at Jerusalem's Hebrew University. The Center continues to produce in-depth studies and surveys of global anti-Semitic trends. The Vidal Sassoon Foundation also regularly supports educational and cultural projects in Israel.

Lying Mahmoud Abbas: Jerusalem only has Islamic and Christian history

Mahmoud Abbas: "Jerusalem only has Islamic and Christian history, Israel's "Judaization" is stealing Jerusalem's cultural, human, and Islamic-Christian
religious history"

Mahmoud Abbas' advisor: "Israel is creating artificial heritage with a Jewish spirit at the expense of its [Jerusalem's] true and authentic [identity] as an Arab, Islamic and Christian city"

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority continue to deny Israel's 3,000 years of history in Jerusalem, claiming it is solely an Arab, Muslim and Christian city. Earlier this month, Abbas referred to Israel's presence and activities in Jerusalem as "Judaization" and stated that Israel is stealing what he called the "cultural, human, and Islamic-Christian religious history."

This is not the first time that Abbas has denied Jewish history in Jerusalem and claimed the city for Islam alone. Palestinian Media Watch has reported that Mahmoud Abbas said that taking Jerusalem from Israel is a religious Islamic obligation of the highest level, a "fard ayn" - a personal Islamic commandment incumbent on every Muslim.

In a different speech, Abbas said in 2010: "The oppressor will not last in Jerusalem; the oppression will not endure. Victory will come, Allah willing. This land is Allah's best land, for which He chooses the finest of His believers, as it is written in the words of the Prophet [Muhammad]." [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 11, 2010]

Abbas' Minister of Religion Mahmoud Al-Habbash claimed that Jerusalem has been: "throughout history, the capital of the Palestinian state and the capital of the Palestinian people." [PA TV (Fatah), Aug. 20, 2010]

Neither claim is correct. There has never been a Palestinian state and Jerusalem was never the capital of an Arab or Muslim state.

2. Renounce all bonds we as Christians/Messianics might have, according to the ´palestinians´, with Islam.
3. Recognise the 3000 year of Jewish history of Jerusalem and the whole of Israël.

Lag Ba'Omer 5772 / 2012 - What Is Lag Ba'Omer ?

Lag Ba'Omer is a minor Jewish holiday that falls between the holidays of Passover and Shavuot. "Lag" is a combination of two Hebrew letters: lamed and gimmel. According to Hebrew numerology, lamed stands for the number thirty and gimmel stands for the number three. These two numbers are significant for Lag Ba'Omer because it is celebrated on the 33rd day of Counting the Omer.

The Significance of Lag Ba'Omer

Lag Ba'Omer is a joyous holiday but no one is sure what it celebrates. The Talmud mentions a plague that is thought to have killed 24,000 of Rabbi Akiva's students during one Omer, and some have suggested that Lag Ba'Omer is celebratory because the plague abated on the 33rd day. Others have suggested that Lag Ba'Omer is connected to Rabbi Akiva's support of Simon Bar Kokhba, a Jewish rebel leader against Rome. The Romans responded to Bar Kokhba's revolt with incredible brutality, but perhaps Lag Ba'Omer was a day when either the Jews won a victory or there was a brief respite from the violence. (Ultimately, Bar Kokbha's rebellion failed.) The military connection is supported by the tradition of taking children to open fields to play with toy bows and arrows on Lag Ba'Omer.

Observing Lag Ba'Omer

Lag Ba'Omer is a time during the Counting of the Omer when people can celebrate. While the Omer is a time of mourning, on Lag Ba'Omer marriages can be performed, children are taken to parks to play, and people often gather for large bonfires. The fires represent the light of the Torah.

Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, the author of the Zohar (an important Kabbalistic text), also died on the 33rd day of the Omer. In Israel many people commemorate his death by visiting his grave in the northern town of Meron. The anniversary of his death is a day for celebration because it is believed he revealed the secrets of the Torah to his students before he died.

Supreme Court Returns Old City Properties to Jews

Old City market

A store and residence in the heart of the Old City have been ordered returned to their Jewish owners after 64 years in squatters' hands.

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered two Arab squatters in Jerusalem’s Old City to vacate the homes they are occupying.

Lawyer Mohammed Dahleh said the court had rejected his clients’ appeal on the basis that the properties had been legally acquired by Jewish prior to the establishment of Israel in 1948. “It went through the Magistrates Court, the District Court and now the Supreme Court,” Dahleh said. The Supreme Court also ordered the plaintiff's – Ghazi Zalum’s house and Ismail Wazwaz – to pay all the legal costs.

Both properties – one a residence, the other a shop – are in the Al-Qarameh neighborhood between the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Temple Mount. Zalum complained to the AFP that there had been a systematic takeover by settlers of properties in the area. “With my evacuation, Israel has evacuated half of the Al-Qarameh neighborhood and Aqbat al-Khaldiyya as part of an organized policy of clearing the Old City,” he charged.

“It is more of a political issue than an Arab or Jewish property issue. This move comes with the announcement of the elections and is a message to Israelis saying: we are liberating Jerusalem from the Arabs,” he said, referring to a decision by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to call early elections this September.

The identities of the Jewish owners who won the court battle were not immediately available.

Jews were forced to abandon their properties and flee when Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem when Jordan invaded and occupied the territory during Israel's War of Independence. Israel liberated the Old City along with the territories occupied by Jordan, originally slated for the Jewish state under the British Mandate, in the 1967 Six Day War.

Jewish organizations dedicated to re-establishing the Jewish presence in the the Old City and eastern Jerusalem frequently scour archives for documents proving Jewish ownership of properties in the area. With the exception of a very brief period following the Crusader sacking of Jerusalem in 1099, there has been an unbroken Jewish presence in Jerusalem for thousands of years.

'Many of the villages in southern Lebanon will be destroyed'

Any Hezbollah retaliation to an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would prompt Israel to launch a war in Lebanon so ferocious that it would take a decade to rebuild the villages it destroys, a senior Israeli military officer told the British Telegraph newspaper on Monday.

Despite the inevitable international outcry, Israel would be left with no choice but to lay waste to swathes of southern Lebanon because Hezbollah has entrenched itself so deeply within the civilian population, the senior Northern Command officer told the Telegraph.

The officer urged the Lebanese people not to be drawn into a war for which they, rather than Iran, would bear the brunt of Israel's anger, the paper reported.

"The situation in Lebanon after this war will be horrible," the officer, a senior commander on Israel's northern border with Syria and Lebanon, said. "They will have to think about whether they want it or not. I hope that Iran will not push them into a war that Iran will not pay the price for but that Lebanon will."

But the officer, speaking to the Telegraph on condition of anonymity, suggested that Israel had taken "too cautious an approach in the conflict," leading to the deaths of dozens of Israeli soldiers during the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006. Some 1,200 Lebanese were killed during the 34-day conflict, including hundreds of Hezbollah terrorists. A total of 121 IDF soldiers were killed in the war.

"No such mistake would be made in the next conflict," the officer said, especially as Hezbollah had built military sites in the center of many villages and towns in southern Lebanon. Pointing to a satellite map of the town of Khiam, he identified a series of buildings that the movement had allegedly taken over for military purposes, the Telegraph reported.

"In these villages where Hezbollah has infrastructure I will guess that civilians will not have houses to come back to after the war," he said.

"The Lebanese government has to take this into consideration. Many of the villages in southern Lebanon will be destroyed. Unfortunate, but we will have no other solution. The day after [we attack] the village will be something that it will take 10 years to rebuild," he told the Telegraph.

Islamisten dreigen “internationale media”

Read persecution/murder by Islam of Christian Bible-believers: Boko Haram Muslim Terrorists Murder Christian Pastor’s 79 Year Old Mother

Israel's handicapped miracle

By Giulio Meotti.
Israel Opinion/Ynet..
03 May '12..

While Iranian scientists are being deployed in the nuclear bunkers and Israeli F16s could be ready to take off, one story reminds the world that Israel and Israelis are involved not only in hurting and being hurt, but in giving hope to those without hope.

World-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman, afflicted with polio as a child, just attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the Israeli Foundation for Handicapped Children. While in the Arab world disabled people have been called “the invisibles,” because they are segregated and hidden from the public eye, Israel’s work with illness and disabilities would merit a book in itself.

Israel’s ruthless determination in tackling head-on the physical problems that arise either from natural causes, terrorism or war is astounding and says much about Israel’s moral lesson to the world beyond the headlines on killings, kidnappings, snipers, and suicide bombers.

In the world’s consciousness, the word “Israel” has become equated with fear, when the Jewish state is in fact the world's most important laboratory for healers of diseases. There is an amazing quantity of research, of inventions, of newfound techniques for curing and helping the ill, the blind, and the paralyzed to return to normal life.

Scientists at Hebrew University have developed the drug Exelon for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injuries. The Weizmann Institute had led to the development of promising new therapies for acute spinal cord injuries. Indeed, the late actor Christopher Reeve described Israel as the “world center” for research.

In Israel it is very common to see children with Down’s syndrome in television programs and there are many special parks for disabled people. Paraplegic war heroes are the protagonists of many soap operas and disabled athletes are extremely successful, like brave swimmer Keren Leibovitz.

Israel is different

All the archive photos of Franklin Delano Roosevelt show him sitting or standing; by order of the US president, they never gave away the fact that he was a paraplegic, put into his wheelchair by polio. Most Americans, before the TV era, never knew he was disabled. Yet Israel is a very different country.

Five major wars and frequent terror attacks since Israel’s founding in 1948 have resulted in thousands of disabled veterans and civilian survivors of suicide attacks. Each morning, these people wake up to the worst nightmares: brain injuries, birth defects, paralysis. They epitomize Jewish courage and Israel’s joy de vivre. They are a microcosm of the unfailing spirit so many of us in the West associate with being Israeli.

Israel's miracle is epitomized by Professor Reuven Feuerstein, the pioneer who has dedicated his life to pushing Down people beyond their supposed limits. He has said that “chromosomes will never have the last word” and has helped people with this syndrome to achieve a level of functioning that most people who work with them thought impossible.

Feuerstein’s method has been adopted by many European countries. Another example is the 2,248 “children of Chernobyl” who have been brought to Israel for treatment. Or doctors such as Mario Goldin, who emigrated from Argentina and whose objective in life was to reduce “the pain of those who suffer.” A suicide bomber killed him while he was waiting for the bus.

In Palestinian society, the most famous disabled was Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin. In Iraq, terrorists used many disabled women for suicide attacks. In Israel, Down syndrome youth can ask to be inducted into the army. This is the story of the Middle East conflict: death cult vs. Israel’s right to life.

Most Israelis and Jews are under no illusions (and supporting Israël)

If one reviews the events of the past year and monitors opinion polls, it becomes abundantly clear that despite the mantras chanted by the far left insisting that most Israelis and Jews are opposed to the policies of the current Israeli government, the evidence on the ground suggests the very contrary.

There is neither a groundswell of resentment against the foreign policy and security policies of the Israeli government nor are there indications suggesting that committed diaspora Jews are becoming alienated from the Jewish state.

In fact, it is undeniable that a far stronger consensus prevails amongst Israelis in relation to the government’s approach towards the Palestinians than at any time since the national schism was created in the wake of the adoption of the Oslo Accords.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has effectively charted a centrist course which is endorsed by most of the nation. This amounts to an end of further radical concessions to the Palestinians in the absence of genuine reciprocity and no additional unilateral territorial withdrawals that could lead to a repetition of Sharon’s Gaza disengagement which merely emboldened the jihadists and provided them with additional staging grounds from which to launch rockets and intensify terrorism.

At the same time Netanyahu has repeatedly reiterated that in the event of a Palestinian leadership committing to peaceful coexistence, willing to compromise and recognize Israel’s security requirements, he would make every endeavor to achieve an accommodation which would provide the Palestinians with an independent state. Israelis recognize that this will necessitate a change in the current duplicitous Palestinian leadership which is more committed to terminating Jewish sovereignty than achieving statehood.

Despite the appalling Israeli electoral system with its multiple parties and the excessive leverage by small one-dimensional parties, setting aside the extreme left and right and radical Arab parties, there are no basic ideological differences on issues of foreign policy or security between the leading political parties.

The histrionic media opposition from the far-left is neither reflected in voting patterns nor in opinion polls. The circulation and standing of its flagship newspaper, Ha'aretz, has plunged to an all-time low. The reality is that although the trendy “progressive” politicians and far left academicians continue making headlines, in reality they have been effectively marginalized.

........ Indeed if one observes developments in the diaspora and monitors Jewish public opinion polls especially in the US, it is clear that there is a solid sense of loyalty for Israel amongst Jews who understand the realities on the ground. They display support for the current Israeli efforts to achieve security in a region in which it is the intransigent Palestinians who undermine prospects for peace and make a short-term realization of a two state policy virtually impossible.

This was reaffirmed in the results of a recent poll conducted by supporters of President Obama designed to understate the role of Israel as a factor determining how American Jews vote. But even this poll recognized that 73% of all Jews – not merely the committed ones - considered that Netanyahu, the bête noir of left liberals, represented ‘true Jewish values’.

We should not fall prey to propaganda repeating false assertions that today Jews are less supportive of the Jewish state. The reality is the opposite and that the overwhelming majority of committed Jews continue to fervently support Israel. The only major change is that they are no longer deluded by visions of a non-existent Arab peace partner.

Israel - Small but Outstanding - Seeing is Believing

Nederlanders kennen weinig joodse feestdagen.
